Hi, Rick from ABC Autotech here,
Why is there a need to change your vehicle’s brake fluid? Well, most people do not know that their car’s brake fluid has to be changed regularly. According to experts, brake fluid should be changed every year or two. A motorist who drives 10,000 to 15,000 miles a year uses his brakes more than 75,000 times.
Brake fluid attracts moisture and moisture causes the parts of the brake system to corrode. Because of corrosion tiny particles can clog the parts of the break system and cause your brakes to stop working. When your brakes do not work, vehicular accidents happen.
To determine if your brake fluid needs changing, you can get brake fluid test strips from your local auto parts store. The strips will test if there are particles which can cause corrosion. Just locate the fluid reservoir, open it and dip the test strip. The darker the color on the strip, the more contaminants the fluid has. If the color on the strip says that there is more than 200 ppm of contaminants, it is time to change the fluid.

‘Till next time, be safe out there!
